Prince William Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil during November, according to palace sources.
The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a gathering leading up to the climate summit, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The royal pair were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the British authorities.
Environmental Advocacy Commitment
The King has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the climate conference.
Official representatives have portrayed the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as assuming an important role in "climate diplomacy".
Previous Activities
The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were welcomed participants featuring environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This engagement featured addresses in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.
Environmental Prize Link
The climate conference will align with the prince's own Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the eve of he attends the COP summit on November 6th.
Last week the prince described the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".
Monarch's Environmental Record
The King has been a key figure at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats challenging our world over global warming, climate change and ecological decline," the monarch informed delegates.
